Today there are a lot of people trying to lose weight by going on diets. Diets are great, but they won’t be as successful unless you also exercise. A lot of people don’t want to exercise because they are just lazy but others don’t want to exercise because it just doesn’t feel good.
Working out every day means a lot of aches and pains and they don’t want to go through all that. That’s one of the biggest misconceptions about losing weight though, exercise actually feels good.
I won’t lie to you. Working out is going to make you sore, but as the saying goes no pain, no gain. I played a lot of sports growing up and if I didn’t feel sore afterward then I figured I didn’t play hard enough.
Technically being sore doesn’t feel good, but in a way it does. If you feel sore all the time because you’re out of shape and aren’t working out then you feel miserable. But if you’re sore all the time because you’re working out then it feels good to know that the soreness is for a good reason.
Some soreness, and other pains worse than that, simply come from not working out correctly. First of all stretching is important to avoid injuries. It is also important to learn the correct way to do whatever exercises you choose to do because doing them wrong can cause injury. For example, for decades people would do situps or crunches with their hands behind their head, but pulling on your head with your hands can actually hurt your neck.
Exercising can obviously make you feel better because you will be more healthy. If you start exercising regularly but don’t lose weight then that doesn’t necessarily mean that exercising isn’t helping. Exercising every day is still helping your body on the inside, which will lead to being more healthy, even if it doesn’t look like it’s doing much help on the outside.
Maybe the most important thing is that exercising will make you feel good mentally. If you’re very overweight and start exercising regularly then you’re not going to lose all that weight in a week.
You might not even lose much weight in the first month or first couple of months. But mentally you’ll feel good about yourself because you know that you’re trying to lose weight and it will only be a matter of time before it happens.
