Arizona's tough new immigration law hinders hiring at one of state's largest practices

Arizona's tough new immigration law has thwarted at least one practice's efforts to hire physicians.

Citing the new law, which empowers police to question suspected illegal immigrants and require proof of citizenship, a Venezuela-born doctor cancelled her interview at the state's largest OB/GYN practice, the Phoenix Business Journal reports.

The physician, a legal U.S. resident who practices in Florida, said that racial profiling would make it difficult for her family to feel at home in the Grand Canyon State, Nick Clifford, practice administrator for the expanding Drs. Goodman & Partridge OB/GYN PLLC, in Chandler, told the newspaper. The 140-employee, 18-physician practice is set to add four OB/GYNs this year.
